Hatch 3 crashes with Exception Access Violation

Several customers have had problems with the resent update with Windows. If you have received this message or your computer has suddenly started closing down, please do the following.  It could be any one or more causing your problem. If one fixes the problem, there is no need to continue with the rest.

1. If you are running Windows 11 - Revert update:
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Navigate to Windows Update > Update history.
  3. Click on Uninstall updates.
  4. Locate KB5058499, select it, and click Uninstall.
  5. Restart your computer.learn.microsoft.com+1umatechnology.org+1

Note: If you don't see KB5058499, check for other recent updates that might be related.

For Windows 10 and 11, continue with steps below.

2. Follow the steps here to run HATCH 3 with admin rights permanently.  https://help.hatchembroidery.com/portal/en/kb/articles/how-to-run-hatch3-as-administrator 

3. Add an exclusion to your virus software. How to add Hatch to the exclusion of your Anti-Virus software?

4. Use REPAIR to fix any Hatch system files that have been corrupted or missing.

5. Run the Purge and Recovery utility tool by following the steps here - https://help.hatchembroidery.com/portal/en/kb/articles/how-do-i-delete-recovery-files-in-hatch-embroidery

6. Run the system file checker. Follow the steps here for Windows 10 and Windows 11-   Using System File Checker in Windows - Microsoft Support

7. Use check disk. Why Check the disk?  "CHKDSK (check disk) is a system tool or utility on Windows operating systems that scans your hard drive for file system errors. Running the CHKDSK utility helps check and repair hard drive errors and keeps your system data organized — it’s part of good computer hygiene." -   Please see https://help.hatchembroidery.com/portal/en/kb/articles/how-to-run-chkdsk-from-file-explorer for reference.  The tool is available to use on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
