Hatch 3 Exception Access Violation errors

Hatch 3 Exception Access Violation errors

The error message ‘Exception Access Violation’ can appear when zooming, using lettering, printing or scanning, saving designs, or viewing the Color Film. This problem generally relates to the display adapter driver and/or the display adapter itself. Try each of the following solutions in sequence.

Exception access violation at startup

Problem:  An ‘Exception Access Violation’ error message appears when starting Hatch
Embroidery.

Cause:  A corrupt design file in the RECOVER folder or a corrupt ..\Program
Files\Wilcom\Hatch Embroidery 3\RES\defaults.dfl file.

Suggestion:

• Run the Revert utility via the Hatch Embroidery program group.
• If a design is saved with Cyrillic or other less common characters in the filename, you may get the same message. It helps to rename the file to standard characters – e.g. ‘abc123’.
• If that doesn’t work, delete any files in the ...\Program Files\Wilcom\Hatch Embroidery 3\RECOVER folder.
• If Hatch Embroidery still will not start, use File Explorer to copy the default ...\BIN\defaults.dfl file to the ...\RES folder, overriding the corrupt defaults.dfl file. This will reset Hatch Embroidery to ‘new installation’.
