In Hatch 4, the Save As dialog does not remember the original folder of each design.
When multiple designs from different folders are open, the save location defaults to the folder of the last opened design instead of the design's original location.
This behavior was introduced as part of a new requirement for other markets. However, it may not align with the expected workflow for some users.
You can restore the previous behavior—where each design remembers its original folder—by updating the Product.ini file.
Important: Ensure file extensions are visible in File Explorer by disabling "Hide extensions for known file types."
Depending on your Hatch 4 version, browse to:
C:\Program Files\Wilcom\Hatch Embroidery 4\BIN
Copy Product.ini
Paste it into the same folder
Keep the backup file (e.g., Product - Copy.ini)
Right-click Product.ini
Select Open With > Notepad
Add the [File] section and add the following line:
AddInitialPathToSaveDialogs=true
Save the edited file as Product.txt (for example, in your Documents folder)
Rename the file from Product.txt to Product.ini
Copy it back into the BIN folder and overwrite the original file
After applying this change:
Save As will default to the original folder of each design.
The behavior will match earlier versions.
