What Should I Know About Hatch Fonts, TrueType Fonts, and Third-Party Fonts?

We often receive questions about fonts in Hatch Embroidery. Here’s a breakdown to help you navigate Hatch Fonts, TrueType Fonts, and Third-Party Fonts.

Hatch Fonts:

  • Fonts purchased from the Hatch Embroidery website don’t need to be installed manually.
  • After purchasing a Font Pack from www.hatchembroidery.com, restart your software—the fonts will automatically appear in your font list.
  • Remember:
    • A Font Pack consists of multiple Font Sets. Look for the font set name in the font dropdown list under Lettering Properties.
    • All Hatch fonts have recommended size ranges. Using fonts outside of these ranges may require sew-out testing and potential editing.

TrueType Fonts (TTF):

  • Add TrueType fonts to your Windows operating system by:
    1. Unzipping the file.
    2. Double-clicking the .TTF file or right-clicking to install it.
    • If unsure, search online for how to install TTF files on your specific computer.
  • After restarting Hatch Embroidery, these fonts will appear in your font list.
  • Important: Not all TTFs are optimized for embroidery. Always perform a test stitch before using them in a project.

Third-Party Fonts:

  • If you purchased Hatch ESA Fonts from a third party (not from the Hatch website), they usually come in a zipped file that must be decompressed.
  • For Hatch 2.1 and above, these fonts must be saved in the following folder:
    C:\ProgramData\Wilcom\Hatch Embroidery\FONTS
  • Important: Do not duplicate these files elsewhere, as it may cause them to not appear in your Hatch software.
