How to change Satin Fonts or True Type Fonts into an outline

How to change Satin Fonts or True Type Fonts into an outline

I get asked often if there is a way to change from a satin stitch to a single run outline with an embroidery type font or a true type font?

This depends on the font. If each letter is only 1 object, then yes. However, this is generally not how fonts are created.  This would be the same regardless if an embroidery font or a True Type Font.

There are two methods you can use.  Method 1 is generally what I start with, but some fonts are not shaped in a way and will not work for some letters.  If not, then I go to method 2.

Method 1:

1 > Type of the TTF

2 > Use Offsets and outlines from the Create Layouts Toolbox.  The setting as shown below. Select a color that is not used elsewhere in the design

The results will look like #2 below.

3> Go to your Sequence Docker by colors. Select the fill in #2 (yellow) and delete

      Your results are #3 above.

Method 2:

1 > type the TTF

2> here I have used the "break apart" 3 times. (refer to the image below)

1 x will break the line down to individual words

2x will break the word down to individual letters

3x will break the letter down to objects

Then I selected them and change to outline.

While this may be okay, sometimes you may not want to outline around each "object" as in this one.

3. I used break apart only 2 times (to get it to individual letters)

Then I used "Weld" so that each letter would be welded into one object

4. Then I selected #3 and changed the outline.
