Creating large designs requiring multiple hoops sounds daunting, but it's not as tricky as you think with Hatch Embroidery.

Turn on: Add registration marks on output  (I usually use Medium setting for the margin) before you go into the Multi-hooping toolbox

1. To find this: Click on Embroidery Settings Menu > Multi-Hooping tab
2. Check “Add registration marks on output" > select Margin

Tips:  To change the margin, click "Multi-hooping Options" in the Multi-hooping Toolbar.

You MUST change or set the registration marks "on" before you start the multi-hooping process.  If not, you will have to start over after you make changes.

       

 

NOTE: on Margins of the Registration Marks:

 The margin refers to how close to the hoop the registration marks will be placed.

Large margin will be further from the hoop edge.  (large margin)

Small margin will be closer to the hoop edge (small margin)

Tip:  Small  margins can cause you to have more hoopings depending on the design.  Therefore, if your fell there are too many hoopings, you can try to use large margin

Click on the Multi-Hooping toolbox

Create your multi-hooping as per the instructions in the online documentation

When multi-hooping is complete > click on Calculate Hoopings

 

Click on Output toolbox

FIRST: Click "Save Design As" and save as .EMB

SECOND: Click "Export Design" and save to your desired machine format. It will split the designs into the required hoopings. Each hooping will have a number at the end to show the order to stitch out.

           

 

Now you are ready to stitch your design.

I prefer to use sticky back stabilizer as it makes the process easier and faster. There are many on the market. I personally use Stabil-Stick stabilizer so I will give you the directions for using this.

 

        Get ready for the 1^st hooping:

1. Hoop the sticky stabilizer (do not hoop the fabric for your design)
2. Now lay your fabric to the sticky stabilizer
3. Stitch your first design
4. At the end of the design, the last color stitched will be the “registration marks” that you will use for the next hooping.
5. Remove from the hoop and remove the stabilizer.

 

       Now for the 2^nd hooping

     6.  Hoop the sticky stabilizer (do not hoop the fabric for your design)

     7.  Stitch the 1^st color. This will be registration marks. You will stitch this on the stabilizer only!

     8.  Line up the marks from the 1^st hooping with these. (See picture below)

     9.  Stitch the 2^nd hooping

      If you have additional hoopings continue as above, matching the registration marks.

 

Below are some images.

In this example, I will have two hoopings for this cake. The first hooping is shown in the red hoop. The second hooping is shown in the blue hoop.

Notice it stitched 2 registration marks at the end of the design. (Shown in red)

 

The first color you stitch in the next hooping will be the registration marks. They will line up with the red marks above.

 

 

Here is a tip for lining them up perfectly.

TIP:  

 

Your stitches will line up perfectly!
